Mourning Letters, 2015-2020, follows a narrative laid out in a series of letters read aloud by myself, addressed to my first love in reaction to his sudden passing. Through mass media images of both high and low culture, the piece explores issues around grief, trauma, art, and collective and individual memory.
Dear Ty, 2015, a precursor to Mourning Letters, was my thesis project in grad school.  It covers the same subject matter -- my first love's passing -- but in a more raw and dissociated form.
GROW, 2015, is a piece about emotional confusion. The language is sourced from self-help books and re-mixes their rhetoric around the topic of personal growth to form a melodic improvisational poem. The poem is set to time-lapsed images of flowers blooming.
This Is A Personal Revolution, 2016, a poetic piece that takes rhetoric around the idea of revolution as its inspiration, especially of a personal, spiritual or emotional sort. The audio plays over images of planets revolving, stars collapsing, and general space phenomena.
You Are The Spectacle, 2016, inspired by the Instagram account RenoirSucksAtPainting in the aftermath of the 2016 presidential election.
Manifest Reality, 2017, hands lifted up in spiritual services to the sound of an original narrated poem.
